McCOOK, Nebraska -- Eugene R. Lyon, 91, died Nov. 22, 2010, in McCook.

He was born Aug. 12, 1919, in McCook to Eugene C. and Hazel (Rouch) Lyon. He received all of his education in the McCook public schools, graduating in 1937.

He worked in his father's grocery store on East G Street through the depression years, while attending school and following graduation.

During World War II he worked in Buffalo, New York, building airplanes in the Curtiss-Wright factory. After the war, he returned to McCook and worked in carpentry and cabinet making.

He is survived by his brother, Stan Lyon of Reno, Nevada; a niece and two cousins.
