Verda Ervin - Class Of 1933

 


 

 

ERVIN, Verda Pauline
Verda was born in Red Willow County, Nebraska on March 27, 1913 to Elmer and Clara Ervin. She passed away peacefully on February 16, 2012 in Rocklin, California. Verda was 98 years old.
Verda attended elementary school in Frontier County, Nebraska; high school in McCook, Nebraska, and graduated from McCook Junior College with a Teaching Certificate in 1943. She taught in rural schools in Red Willow and Frontier counties. She also taught four years In Culberson, Nebraska.
In 1945 Verda moved to Pollock Pines where she lived with her sister and brother-in-law Lois and Perry Boson; and their daughters Vivian, Clara and Diana. She earned her BA in education from Sacramento State University and taught 5th grade in Pollock Pines for 35 years. When she retired in 1980, Verda moved to Rocklin, California to be near her niece, Clara Taylor and family.
Verda loved to travel during her summer vacations. She traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, and Mexico. She enjoyed music, playing cards, and board games. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by a brother, John Willis Ervin of Golden, Colorado; 16 nieces and nephews; and numerous grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Boson and brothers Lloyd Ervin, Ernest Ervin, and Carl Ervin.
A memorial service will be held for family at a future date. Verda's remains will be laid to rest at the Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, Nebraska.
