In Memory

Shirley Hamilton (Grant) - Class Of 1942

Shirley June Grant was born May 30, 1925 and passed away January 15, 2007 in Palm Desert, CA.

She was born and spent most of her childhood in McCook, Nebraska. Upon graduation from high school she moved to Denver, Colorado and went to work for the Civil Service. Four years later, wanderlust hit.

She and her friend, Alice, bought one-way train fares to California. With no jobs or friends waiting, they arrived in Long Beach with $600 in their pockets.

That same year she met, fell in love with, and married Osa James Grant, Jr. She eventually went back to work for the Civil Service at the shipyard, but stopped working in 1958 to stay at home with her children.

She loved fashion and home decorating but her greatest love was her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; her daughters Linda and Vicky; and her grandchildren Justin, Jenae and Gina.
