Beth Relph (Wilhelm) - Class Of 1939

Beth A. Wilhelm died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at the McCook Community Hospital in McCook, Neb., at the age of 86. She was born Jan. 7, 1922 at Thatcher, Colo., the daughter of the late Carl and Lenna (Everist) Relph. Beth grew up on the family farm south of McCook and graduated from McCook Sr. High School in 1939. She graduated from McCook Jr. College in 1941. On Oct. 14, 1942, Beth married Donald Wilhelm at Oberlin, Kan. They made their home at Hastings, Neb., for two years where Beth taught in the rural schools and her husband worked in the Ordinance Plant. Donald entered the U.S. Army Air Corp, serving during WWII. Following his discharge from the service they returned to farm south of McCook. Her husband Donald preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1995. In 2001 Beth moved to Highland Park Retirement Home in McCook. Beth is survived by two daughters, Sandra Gotchall and husband, William of Oberlin, Kan., and Ann Doyle and husband Ed, of McCook, Neb.; two sons, Les Wilhelm and Lee Wilhelm, both of McCook; nine grandchildren, Justine Owings and husband Sean, Teri Dennis and husband, Bill, Darrell Wilhelm and wife, Karen, Marcia Washkuhn and husband, Eric, Staci Bedel and husband, Jeff, Derrick Wilhelm, Jason Gotchall and wife, Jenifer, Kristyl Gotchall and Shani Hnchir; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister Velma Roberts of Mill Valley, Calif.; relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday Sept. 29, 2008, at Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be in the Danbury and Marion Cemetery at Danbury, Neb. Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and 1-6 p.m., on Sunday.
