Nadine Hoyt (Stramel) - Class Of 1939

Nadine G. Stramel, 83, died Sunday, August 14, 2005 at her home in McCook. She was born December 29, 1921, at McCook, the daughter of the late Dean W. and Emma E. (George) Hoyt. Her step-mother was Sylvia Bailey Hoyt. She grew up in McCook graduating from McCook high School in 1939 and from McCook Junior College in 1941. She attended Business College in Denver, Colorado. Nadine married Jack Young who preceded her in death.

On July 30, 1966, Nadine married Raymond Stramel in McCook. She made her home in McCook where she served for fifteen years in Civil Service and was the Clerk of the Selective Service Board. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church; Eureka Chapter 86, Order of Eastern Star; and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Young on October 31, 2001.

Nadine is survived by her husband, Ray of McCook; one son, Alan Young and wife, Marilou of Huntington Beach, California; step-sons, Daniel Stramel and wife, Leslie of McCook; Randy Stramel of Lincoln; and Stephen Stramel of McCook; step-daughter, Marcia Morell of McCook; three grandchildren, Amanda Koperski and husband, Eric, Elizabeth Morell and Katherine Morell; one brother, Merlin Hoyt of San Jose, California; step-brother, Bruce Bailey of Austin, Minnesota; one sister, Betty Hoyt of Hettinger, North Dakota; and step-sister, Dorsey Smith of Nampa, Idaho; relatives; and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 18, 2005, 10:30 a.m., at the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery at McCook.
