Joan Esther Petri was born June 4, 1931 in Culbertson, Nebraska to Lafe Phillips and Pearl Phillips (Clark). Joan slipped peacefully into God’s eternal care on July 9, 2021 in El Cajon, California. Joan’s transition from natural life into eternal life follows that of her husband, James Petri, her parents, and her sisters, Hazel Phillips, Mildred Raichert and Bessie Rozema. Joan is survived by her sons, David Petri (Lorinda Petri) and Steve Petri (Jinlan Petri); six grandchildren, Layne Bone (Justin Bone), Kent Petri, Briena Petri, Seth Petri, Lucas Petri and Lacy Petri; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan Bone and Slater Bone, as well as her nieces and nephews who she loved as her own children. As a young girl, Joan realized the opportunity offered to her to have the seed of faith planted in her heart, a seed that was delivered by God’s son, Jesus, and carefully carried and planted by those who had offered their lives as sowers of God’s seed. She welcomed this seed into her heart and as this seed of faith grew in her heart, the life that it became would direct her choices for the rest of her days.
