McCOOK, Neb. — Derek Dame, age 36, of McCook, passed away on Dec. 22, 2021, in McCook. He was born on Sept. 5, 1985, in McCook, to Cynthia (Novak) and David Dame. He attended school in McCook and graduated with the McCook High School Class of 2004. Derek remained in McCook after graduation, where he worked with his uncles, Doug and Roger Dame, in construction. He then worked construction in Gordon and North Platte, Neb. At the time of his passing, he ran and operated his own company, Derek Dame Construction. When not working, Derek loved to be surrounded by family and friends. He raced go karts, loved to collect things and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Derek loved all animals, especially his yellow lab, Tonka. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gloria Novak, Marvin and Sandra Novak, and Robert and Verna Dame; uncle, Steven Path and an infant brother, Jeremy Dame. Derek’s memory will survive with his parents, Cindy and Dave Dame of McCook; his sister, Chelsey and husband, Cody Feeken of Burwell, Neb.; his nephews, Cy and Conley Feeken; as well as his uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Cremation was chosen and memorial services were at 10:30 a.m., on Monday morning, Dec. 27, 2021, at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with Pastor Jeff Kelley officiating. Inurnment will follow services in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook. Memorials are suggested to McCook Humane Society, or the McCook Mini Speedway in Derek’s name.
