HEMINGFORD, Neb. - Daniel L. Linegar, Sr., age 69, of Hemingford, Neb. passed away on Sun., Oct. 22, 2023 at his home.

Dan was born April 24, 1954 in Oberlin, Kan. to parents Richard and JoAnn (Leonard) Linegar. He was one of seven children. Dan graduated from McCook High School with the Class of 1973.

On June 12, 1982, Dan married the love of his life, Cheryl A. (McConville) Linegar at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook, Neb. They were the proud parents of seven children. Dan worked for BNSF Railroad for 36 years and happily retired to his farm near Hemingford, Neb.

Dan enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He cherished the time with his grandchildren by reading many stories, doing chores around the farm, and following their activities. Dan loved horses and owned Pineview Carriage Service with his team of Percherons “Jim and George” for eight years. He had a passion to teach family and friends horsemanship and how to ride. For over ten years, Dan volunteered for the Equine Therapy Riding Program at East Point Horspice (EPH) and sat on the Board of Directors for the organization.

Dan is survived by his wife, Cheryl Linegar of Hemingford, Neb.; children, Krea (JP) Biernacki of Gering, Neb., Daniel Linegar, Jr. of Alliance, Neb., Christopher Matthews of Omaha, Neb., Bryan (Malinda) Linegar of Chadron, Neb., Jessica (Brian) Brown of Gillette, Wyo., Joseph (Jill) Linegar of Grand Forks, ND, and Thomas (Emily) Linegar of South Beach, Ore.; siblings, Linda Craig, Rich (Sherry) Linegar, Sue (Scott) Fields, Connie Chandler, Steve (Fran) Linegar and Tim (DeAnn) Davis; sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Cecil Davis; and other extended family.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Sun., Oct. 29, 2023 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook, Neb. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Mon., Oct. 30, 2023 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola, Neb. with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Indianola.
