TRENTON, Neb. — Carolyn M. Shadley, age 65, of Trenton, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the Great Plains Health in North Platte.

She was born in Denver, Colo., on Oct. 9, 1955, to James and Della “Joan” (Gentry) Smith. The family moved to McCook and Carol graduated from McCook High School in 1973. In May of 1975, Carol was united in marriage to Marcy Shadley. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2021.

Carol was employed at the formerly Dayco Hose Plant (now Parker Hannifin Corporation) and U-Save Grocery in McCook. Carol was known for her smile, sense of humor and her caring spirit. She touched many lives in her earthly journey with her unconditional love, generosity, and kindness. She loved being around family, especially grandchildren. Carol was an avid reader and bird watcher

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcy; and parents, James and Della “Joan” Smith.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Amber and husband, Bryan Rooney of Stapleton, Neb.; son, Aaron and wife, Lisa Shadley of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandchildren, Brooklynn Rooney, Colin Rooney and Killian Rooney, all of Stapleton and Mason and Sophia Shadley of Idaho Falls; sisters, Laura Tournade of Trenton, Linda and husband, Todd Aneas of McCook, Neb., and Sharon and husband, Mark Hollars of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, Mike and wife, Nora Smith of Gold Hill, Ore., Walt and wife, Laura Smith of Bartlett, Tenn., Rich and wife, Shelly Smith of Bel Air, Kan., and Mark Smith of Kearney, Neb.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be Friday afternoon, Aug. 6, 2021, from 2- 3 p.m., at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. The family asks that you come share stories and fellowship. There will be no viewing as Carol chose cremation. A private family inurnment will take place. Memorials are suggested to the family of Carol Shadley for future designation.
