George Ike - Class Of 1964

George V. Ike., Jr 73, died Sunday May 19, 2019, in Lincoln Nebraska after a lengthy illness. He was born September 27, 1945, to George V. Ike, Sr and Virginia (Alexander) Ike, in McCook, Nebraska. He attended McCook public schools and spent a lot of time as a kid undergoing surgeries in Lincoln Nebraska. On February 26, 1965, he married Margaret Jeanne (Yonker) Ike, at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook. George started his truck driving career with Pepsi in McCook and moved to Stratton where he drove for Miller Disc until 1977 he then learned the shoe repair trade and opened up a shop in McCook called Ike's shoe repair and crafts store he then moved the stores to Goodland Kansas in the 70's eventually shutting them down and going back to Truck Driving for Yellow Freight. He was transferred with Yellow to Lincoln Nebraska in 1987 and was then transferred to Memphis TN in 1994 he retired in 2003 and moved back to Lincoln to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren and open up his wood working business Plum Creek Woodshop. He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret son Trever parents George and Virginia (Alexander) Ike sister Lynda (Ike) Cox and brother in law Harold Dean Berry. Survivors include his Daughter and husband Marnie (Danny) Milner, Arapahoe Nebraska, sister Pat Berry, Oberlin KS, brother in law Melvin Cox Bennet Nebraska, sister in law Doris Yonker KCMO, Brother in law Phil Yonker Littleton CO 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
