Leana Lofton (Steinhour) - Class Of 1957

Leana Marie (Lofton) Steinhour, born Dec. 24, 1939, was greeted by her Savior, Jesus Christ on Oct. 1, 2018. Leana joined this world on a small farmstead in rural Nebraska, attending a one-room school until she attended and graduated from McCook High School in 1957. She was joined in marriage to Arley William Steinhour on Sept. 7, 1957, at the United Methodist Church in McCook. To this union was born five children. Leana graduated from nursing school in 1972, at Solano Community College and remained a licensed registered nurse until the time she left this Earthly body. A Navy wife and skilled nurse, Leana worked in many specialties but her favorite was the nursery. Leana has a loving and Godly heart and all who knew her, spoke of her unending generosity and love. Leana was an active member of McCook Baptist Church and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She will be missed by her life-long friend of 43 years, Ronda Singh, as well as numerous friends made throughout her lifetime. Leana was greeted in Heaven by her dad, Elmer Charles Lofton, her mom, Marie Elnor Lofton and life partner, Kenneth Lofton. Her Godly legacy will be carried on by her high school sweetheart, Arley Steinhour of Bartley, Neb.; brothers, James and Bonny Lofton of Ozark, Mo., Charles and Michelle Lofton and Gary and Patrice Lofton, all of McCook; sons, Ricky Steinhour and wife, Rose (Fringer) of Holbrook, Neb., William Steinhour and wife, Andrea (Dovidio) of Herndon, Va., Michael Steinhour and wife, Penny (Larson) of West Minster, Colo., and Joseph Steinhour of Edison, Neb.; daughter, Rebecca Steinhour of McCook; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and countless friends and extended family. Memorials may be given in her name to the McCook Humane Society.
