Richard L (Dick) Mattox was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Friday, June 24, 2022.

He was born in 1929, to Frank B. Mattox and Lucile E. Mattox in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dick played trumpet as a Sergeant. in the US Marine Corps Band. He was stationed in California and Honorably Discharged in 1953. He went to work for Fairbanks Morse in the 1950's, starting out in their Pump and Irrigation Division before spending 30 highly successful years in their Power Systems Division. In that capacity he sold huge engine/generators to municipalities in Kansas and Missouri for their peak power demand needs. He was written up in the Wall Street Journal at one time for selling a record size engine/generator installation to the city of Chanute Kansas. After retiring from Fairbanks Morse, Dick kept active with several entrepreneurial endeavors while continuing his lifelong passion for golf at his beloved Dub's Dread Golf Club.

It is hard to convey the impact Dick had on people and their lives. He was a loving parent, grandparent, brother, uncle, and friend. He had an uncanny ability know how to help and inspire. He was a true mentor. Rather than "tell" you what to do, he would "nudge" you in the right direction. He was never critical. He always saw the positive in everyone and every circumstance. He will be deeply missed by all of us, but surely God will put those rare skills to further use.

He married his wife and love of his life, Charlotte (Charlie) in January 1949. She preceded him in death September 20, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister Merilee, and grandson E.J. Schaeffer.

He is survived by his children, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his 2 brothers, 3 sisters, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews.
