Adolph Kalinski - Class Of 1946

 

Obituary for Adolph Kalinski Adolph is survived by two sisters, Ruth, Rosie, and brother John Jr. He is further survived by his two sons, David, Daniel (wife Susan), and daughter Dara Edwards. There are four grand children (Kirstie Edwards, Todd Jr. Edwards, David Jr, Kalinski, Dr. Laura Opstedal and six great grand children. Adolph was born in Sterkrade, Germany to John & Emma Kalinski. The family emigrated to the United States in 1928 where they settled in McCook, Nebraska under the sponsorship of Emma’s brother, Fred Weber. Adolph joined the Navy in February, 1941 where he was trained as an electrician during the Second World War on the Aircraft Carrier; U.S.S. Makassar Strait (CVE-19). He was honorably discharged on December 22, 1945, where he rotated out of the service in Tacoma, WA. During this time in Tacoma, he had a chance encounter with a young lady by the name of Darlene Mandt. They were married on June 13, 1946, and were married for 68 years until Darlene’s death on September, 27th 2014. Adolph’s work career was centered on the Great Northern Railroad and he retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1988. Many will miss him and more will love him forever.
