DORIS KNOX OBITUARY

KNOX, Doris June Doris June Knox died peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at her home at McLean in Simsbury, CT. She was 87. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. A.E. Hertzler Knox who died on December 31, 2001 after 59 years of marriage. Doris was born on January 6, 1923 in McCook, NE, the third and youngest child of Floyd and Myrtle Hegenberger. Doris's independent spirit was appreciated and well-served by the devoted staff at McLean. She will be missed by them as well as by her extended family and those friends who were as close as family. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Knox Oxendine and husband Bill of Flagstaff, AZ, Pamela Lavery and husband Bob of Farmington, CT and son Hertzler Knox and wife Sheri of Newtown, CT. "Nan" leaves behind six grandchildren, Bruce and Travis MacMillian, Katie Lavery, Jason, Allison and Graydon Knox and five great-grandsons, Brian, Zachary, Tyler, Sebastian and Alexander MacMillian. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations in Doris' name be made to McLean, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury, CT 06070. A memorial service will be held at the McLean Chapel, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury CT 06070, on Saturday, May 8 at 1 in the afternoon.
