Beatrice Mary Miles Friday, December 26, 2003 Beatrice Mary Miles died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. She was 74 years old. Beatrice was born Nov. 9, 1929, in McCook to Francis and Mary Ann (Briggs) Bump. She graduated from McCook High School in 1948. Shortly after graduation, she was employed by Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator until they closed. Beatrice then worked for Sehnert's Bakery for many years and was still employed there at the time of her death. On Jan. 3, 1952, she married Edgar Eugene Miles at the Methodist church in McCook. To this union one daughter, Julie, was born. She enjoyed bowling, her cats and spending time with her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Edgar on Jan. 18, 1997; son-in-law, Van Phillips; one sister, Patricia Salinas. Survivors include her daughter, Julie Phillips and significant other, Robert Allen, of Salina, Kan.; special daughter, Deb Cacy, of Sioux Falls S.D.; special son, Jim Cacy of McCook; two grandsons, Aaron Menke and Levi Menke and his wife, Diana and two great-grandchildren Gaige and Leif, all of Salina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the McCook Humane Society; The World Wildlife Foundation; The Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1700, Chicago, Illinois 60601-7633 ; or your local hospice chapter. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, 2 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
