Kathryn Hilsabeck (Demay) - Class Of 1943

HOLDREGE -- Kathryn Lee DeMay, 81, died Sunday (Aug. 20, 2006) at the Holdrege Memorial Home in Holdrege.

She was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Holdrege, to Hale H. and Freddie A. (Lundin) Hilsabeck. She graduated from McCook High School in 1943.

On June 10, 1945, she married Griffith A. DeMay Jr. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. She worked as an executive assistant for Dr. F.Wayne Brewster at the Brewster Clinic for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Griffith; her parents; grandson, Nasario Lopez, Jr.; and two sisters Barbara Sullivan and husband, Wally and Mary Ann Burgeson and husband, Roy. 

Survivors include her two daughters, Riki Miramontes of Hutchinson, Kan., and Kathy Weddel and husband, Lanny of Springview; four brothers, John and wife, Arlene of Greeley, Colo., Frank and wife, JoAnn of Holdrege, Bruce and wife, Margaret and Bob and wife, Jean all of Lincoln; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, with the Rev. Jean Clayton officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-9 p.m., with the family greeting from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

Memorials may be given in her name.
