Robert Niccolson - Class Of 1942

Robert D. Niccolson SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Robert Dale Niccolson, 77, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at his home in Arizona. He was born Oct. 12, 1924, in McCook to Leslie and Mina (Pearl) Niccolson. He graduated from McCook High School in 1942. He was a World War II veteran and a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborn Division. He received a Purple Heart after being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. On Dec. 26, 1949, he married Betty Jane Dutton. The couple lived in Arizona where he was in sales. He also played the trombone and sang with a big band ensemble. He was a member of the McCook Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Jane; three brothers, Jim, Ted and Everett "Bus" Niccolson; and two sisters, Arletta and June. Survivors include one sister, Lila Bumann of Burley, Idaho; one son, Scott Niccolson of New Mexico; and one grandson, Simon.
