Doris Stauder (Lehr) - Class Of 1939

 

Doris A. Lehr, after a giving life of 81 years, passed away May 14, 2004. The daughter of Charles and Leona (Reinhold) Stauder, she was born June 8, 1922, in Los Angeles, Calif. Doris spent her early and teenage years in McCook. There, with her mother's help, she began her music life of piano, organ, singing and later, directing a church choir. She attended McCook Junior College and then the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she majored in Music. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Alpha Iota. Doris married Lewis W. Lehr of Elgin, Friday, Oct. 13, 1944, in Jackson, Miss. When overseas duty called Lew, she moved back to McCook where she worked in the law offices of Frank Morrison, who later became the governor of Nebraska. After WWII the couple moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where both entered employment for the 3M Company, she in the legal department. Soon their family began arriving, so Doris became a full time mother and housewife. She also was associated with the St. Paul Civic Opera, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, PTA and Roseville Garden Club and a member of North Oaks Golf Club, White Bear Yacht Club, and after moving to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1986, the Pinnacle Peak and Desert Highlands Country Clubs. Doris loved to travel, do crossword puzzles, play golf and bridge and devote her time and talents to her church in Minnesota and Pinnacle Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, Ariz. Doris is survived by her husband Lew, her daughter Mary Makin, sons William (Charlotte); Don (Pamela); and John (Cammy) Lehr; seven grandchildren, Patrick Makin, Evan, Trevor, Alexandra, Anthony, Luke and Nicholas Lehr. Memorial services will be 3 p.m., Friday, May 21, at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church Chapel, 25150 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85255 and 2 p.m., Thursday, June 24, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2561 N. Victoria Street, Roseville, Minnesota 55113. Memorials to the Pinnacle Presbyterian Church Organ Fund. Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
