Cathleen “Cathy” A. Bell Feb. 15, 1955 ~ Oct. 19, 2021 LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Cathleen Ann Bell was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on Oct. 19, 2021, at age 66. Cathy was born in McCook, Neb., on Feb. 15, 1955, to Kenneth and Dorothy Giespert, following siblings Cecilia, Christina, and Greg. She graduated high school in McCook in 1973 and due to her adventurous nature, decided she wanted to be a fingerprint technician. She moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the FBI, and then returned to Nebraska to further her education in criminal justice. She attended McCook Community College and then continued to the University of Nebraska-Kearney, where she received her degree in administrative justice. Cathy continued her career at the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Denver, followed by the Lakewood Police Department. She met her husband Dan while studying at McCook Community College. They were married on Sept. 3, 1977 in Lakewood. She and Dan made their home in Lakewood, where they had two children, Mike and Rachel. Cathy cut back on working full time to raise her children, and most recently worked as an office manager for a small dental office. Throughout her life, Cathy explored many interests and hobbies including cross stitching, ceramics, collecting beanie babies and expanding her Ice Rose dinnerware set. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, and loved spending time relaxing at home watching TV with her beloved dogs. Cathy had a big heart and was always finding ways to help those in need, especially her patients at the dental office. Cathy is survived by her husband, Daniel Bell and her two children, Michael Bell and Rachel (Brian and Eleanore) Schaeffer; as well as her siblings, Christina (Bob) Marts, Cecilia (Darrell) Brown, and Greg Giespert.
