Steve Wilcox - Class Of 1970

Steven Lyle Wilcox July 18, 1952 - April 20, 2023 ALOHA, Ore. - Steven Lyle Wilcox passed away in hospice at home in Aloha, Ore. on April 20, 2023. He was born in Lincoln Neb. on July 18, 1952, to Lyle and Jean Wilcox. The family lived in Western, Lincoln, and Aurora, Neb. before moving to McCook in 1959. He moved to Iran with his family in 1968, where he completed high school at Community School, Tehran, Iran. In 1970, he returned to the States and attended Du Page Community College in the Chicago area for two years. He was united in marriage to Debra Boyd on June 30, 1984, living and working in the Portland, Ore. area until his retirement in December 2019. He is survived by his wife, Debra, his sons Brandon (Molly) Wilcox, Brent (Crissy) Wilcox and daughter Whitney (Gavin) Holewa, his mother, Jean Wilcox, brothers Mark (Betty) Wilcox, and Bruce (Debra) Wilcox, 6 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, and many extended family members. He was a life long Nebraska football fan, celebrating his retirement by attending a game in Lincoln. He attended the MHS class of 1970 fifty year reunion in 2021 where he renewed many friendships with former classmates. Steve loved bonsai, fishing, crabbing, family trips and vacations. The Portland Oregon Bonsai Society has established an honorary mentoring scholarship in his name. A Celebration of Life will take place July 15, 2023 in Aloha, Ore.
