Robert “Bob” S. Allen, age 70, of McCook, passed away at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln, NE, on December 2, 2021. He was born in Concordia, KS, on February 6, 1951, to Sidney and Joan "Judy" (Charbonneau) Allen. The family lived in several towns in Kansas prior to moving to Nebraska in the mid-50's. Bob attended and graduated from McCook High School in 1969. Bob joined the United States Army Reserves on June 18, 1971 and served until February 1, 1977. On August 6, 1971, he married Charlene Offner. The couple raised five children together: Jeff, Chris, Devin, Stephanie, and Sarah. Bob was employed in many aspects of the trucking industry. He enjoyed gardening, building model cars, camping, boating, race cars and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sid and Judy; three sisters, Sherrill Thayer, Nancy Martinez and Vicki Lampman; a grandson, Daniel Allen; a niece, Kristi Allen; and a nephew, Jason Allen. Bob is survived by his children, Jeff Thomas of McCook, Chris (Mackenzie) Allen of Cambridge, Devin Allen of Culbertson, Stephanie Allen of McCook, Sarah Allen of Trenton; seven grandchildren; siblings: Lynn (Vony) Carfield of McCook, Mike (Brenda) Allen of McCook, Pat (Diana) Allen of Herndon, KS, and Sandy Schwab of McCook. In keeping with Bob's choice of cremation, a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Inurnment will be in the Calvary Cemetery of McCook. Memorials may be left in Bob’s name at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel. Friends may leave on-line condolences at herrmannfh.com.
