Dennis Campbell - Class Of 1967

Dennis “DK” K. Campbell, age 73, of Cambridge, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. He was born in McCook, Nebraska on January 14, 1949, to Johnny and Rae Ellen (Koler) Campbell. Dennis attended McCook schools and graduated from McCook High School in 1967. He attended McCook Junior College for one year before joining the United States Marine Corps, serving for four years. He served in Vietnam from July 28, 1969, through January 27, 1971. Dennis was Honorably Discharged on November 1, 1972. On March 13, 1972, Denny was united in marriage to Nancy Stewart at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola. On September 17, 1973, Dennis joined the Nebraska State Patrol in the 21st class, received his badge 248 and served his career in Troop D, in the Broken Bow area. Dennis served the Nebraska State Patrol as a Trooper for 25 years. He retired in December of 1998. Dennis enjoyed the outdoors fishing, hunting, and camping. He enjoyed storytelling, Nebraska football, NFL, motorcycling, camping and boating. Dennis loved to be around family and follow his kid's and grandkid’s events. Dennis was a handyman around the house and the lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Rae; brother, Terry Campbell. Dennis is survived by his wife, Nancy of Cambridge; four sons: David and friend, Kim of McCook, Shane and friend, Dani of Broken Bow, Nathan and wife, Candy of Broken Bow, Matthew and wife, Robin of McCook; 11 grandchildren: Kasandra (Trent), David, Jr. (Mirya), Tasha (Adam), Hunter (Brittany), Traiven, Schylar, Ian, Cody, Shaylen, Talyn and Tristan; sister, Kim and husband, Dave Riley. The family chose cremation. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Catherine’s Catholic church in Indianola, with Father Michael Houlahan as celebrant. There will be a Special Honor Guard by the Nebraska State Patrol. A private family inurnment will take place at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska with Military Honors performed by the Marine Corps Honor Guard at a later date. Memorials may be left to St. Jude Hospitals in Denny’s name.
