In Memory

Carlaine Budig (Wacker) - Class Of 1967

BACHE, Okla. — Carlaine Joy “CJ” Budig/Wacker passed away peacefully at her vacation home in Bache on July 15, 2019. CJ was a dynamic and loving woman full of experience, passion, blue eyes, and curly blonde hair. Carlaine was born June 5, 1949, in McCook, Neb. She was named with the combination of her parent’s names, Carl Frank Budig and Ruth Elaine Joy/Budig. Carlaine married Michael Olmstead Wacker and enjoyed a full life beginning as a mother and homemaker in 1965. She raised two children, Chris and Christina, in Nebraska on a working ranch. She was a business entrepreneur in the 1970s and opened a hip clothing store, Sesame & Thyme. This was a successful adventure that expanded to a second location in Boulder, Colo. Life changes brought her closer to her parents in Arizona in the 1980s, where she obtained her degree in dental hygiene. During her career, Carlaine expanded her opportunities to office manager in maxi facial surgery. After retiring on Lake Powell, she couldn’t sit still and opened a successful retail clothing location in Page, Ariz. Thinking ahead, she purchased a home in Puerto Penasco, Mexico, and settled there in 2003. After truly retiring, CJ had the opportunity to experience many of our United States traveling in her 5th wheel. CJ celebrated her 70th birthday in June during a sudden and quick fight with cancer. God gave us just enough time to absorb and understand his plan; May 24, 2019-July 25, 2019. She passed with dignity and peace in the hands of her daughter at home. Carlaine is now in the arms of Jesus and I can’t think of a better place for her to be. Carlaine was preceded by her parents, Carl and Ruth Elaine, and has joined them in Heaven. Her son, Christopher Michael Wacker, daughter, Christina Margaret Elaine Wacker, granddaughter, Brianna Eklund with great-grandchildren, Marshall and Wyatt, sisters and husbands, Lynda and Bill Baumbach of Indianola, Neb., and Debra and George Ward of Hastings, Neb., and many special nieces and !nephews, will continue to miss her charm and grace. There was a celebration in Oklahoma on Aug. 24, 2019. We will also have a celebration of life in Tucson and Mexico at a future date. There will be a closing celebration in McCook in the spring.
