Betty Sanders (Barker) - Class Of 1967

Betty Ellen Barker was born on February 21, 1949 in Denton, TX (USA) and passed away on November 30, 2019 and is under the care of Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home & Crematory.

 

More information on Betty’s life is in the obit of her husband Jim below. Jim departed this life Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, July 27, at 10 a.m. at the Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff, NE with Pastor Matt Fowler officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Memorials may be given to the family. James Richard Barker was born to Max and Ellen (Lutkemeier) Barker in Minden, NE on July 8, 1948. Jim graduated from Republican City High School in 1966. He attended McCook Community College where he met his wife Betty. They were married in 1968 in Sterling, CO. Jim subsequently graduated from Hastings Community College in 1971. Jim was self employed. He started his business, Jim’s Refrigeration, in Franklin, Ne, in 1977. While in Franklin, Jim was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Franklin Fire Department. He enjoyed scuba diving and other outdoor activities such as camping, boating and fishing with friends and family. Jim had a private pilot’s license and enjoyed spending time in the air as well. In 1992 Jim and Betty moved their family and their business to Gering, NE. Jim was a certified water operator and served the SID #10 district in that capacity as well as serving his community as the vice president of their board. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Jim and Betty enjoyed spending time with the local country western dance club. About this time the couple discovered a new found enjoyment of 4-wheeling adventures with friends and family. Jim is survived by wife Betty of Gering, son Max of Conifer, CO, daughter Toni Lewis of Gering, and grandsons Jake, Joshua, Caleb, Tyler and Tommy, mother Ellen Blank of Franklin, sister Pat and husband KC Long of Lincoln, stepsister Suzanne Gooder of Lexington, uncles Gene Barker and wife Dorothy of Republican City, Harold Lutkemeier and wife Dorothy of Mission TX, aunts Lois Bobbitt and husband Scott of Apache Junction AZ and Lolie Tidemanson and husband Tom of Whittier CA, and many other relatives and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his father Max, grandparents Ray and Irene Barker of Franklin, William and Irene Lutkemeier of Hastings, aunts Opal Johnson of Franklin, Darlene SaBelle of Republican City, and stepfather Raymond Blank of Franklin.
