Marleen Bales Obituary

Marleen M. Bales, age 74, formerly of McCook, NE passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, NE.


Marleen was born on May 2, 1949, in Beatrice, NE to Albert and Emma (Johnson) Parde.  Marleen grew up and graduated from high school in McCook, Nebraska.  She then attended Kearney State College majoring in accounting. Marleen served as Red Willow County treasurer for over 40 years. 


Marleen married Robert Bales on August 20, 2016, in McCook, Nebraska.


Marleen was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in McCook and First Lutheran Church while living in Kearney. In Marleen’s free time, she enjoyed camping and gardening.

 
Marleen was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Bruce Atkins; and two brothers, Lelond Parde and Virgil Parde.


Those left to celebrate Marleen’s life is her husband Robert Bales of Kearney, NE; children, Monte Garcia of Kearney, NE, Benny (Megan) Garcia of Omaha, NE, Brian (Nikki) Garcia of Kearney, NE, Todd (Dawn) Garcia of Holdrege, NE, Mark (Pam) Bales of Grand Island, NE, Mendi Roehrs of North Platte, NE, Braxton Bales of Grand Island, NE, Josh (Mandy) Bales of Akron, CO, Mina (Dave) Werner of Scottsbluff, NE, and Dewayne Bales of Kearney, NE; brother, Eldon (Sharon) Parde of McCook, NE; grandchildren, Taylor Garcia (Michaela Rippe), Tori (Jordan) Volk, Ashley (Daniel) League, Lance (Kaylee) Garcia, Keaton Garcia, Bailey Garcia (Andrew Aguilar), Carson Garcia, Emmalee Garcia, Simon Garcia, Braidon Garcia, Kirstin Sims, Karington Sims, Nevaeh Relph, Aiden Barger, Katalena Garza, Taryn Carey, Breckyn Carey, and Aunna Essex; and great-grandchildren, Seth Williams, Louis Garcia, Hadley Trosper, Brooks and Bryson Volk, Gianni, Ryann, Harvey, Lincoln and Morgan Garcia, Liam and Bella Garcia.
