Doyle E. Sailors, 74 of Sioux City, Iowa died on Thursday, March 2, 2023, surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel (located at 1801 Morningside Ave. Sioux City, Iowa 51106) with Pastor Andy Alexander of LifeHouse Church in Iowa City, IA officiating. There will be a luncheon following the service. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM on March 8th at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., Sioux City, Iowa. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.christysmith.com Doyle was born December 3, 1948, in McCook, Nebraska, to Rev. C.A. and Lillie (Elder) Sailors. He grew up and attended school there until the family moved to South Sioux City, NE where he graduated from High School. He attended college at Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, NE. Doyle helped his father establish Victory Chapel in South Sioux City. He returned to McCook and worked in radio before moving back to Sioux City. He excelled in sales and worked at KTIV and later at A-1 Distributors. Doyle developed a wide range of interests and skills including photography, electronics, recording and sound engineering, Nebraska football, hot rods, softball and music, especially listening to and singing Southern Gospel quartet music. He is infamous for his Twinkie consumption and nick-naming of family and friends. Doyle loved the Lord Jesus which was reflected in his life. He was kind, soft-spoken, and generous, bringing joy and laughter into the lives of many. He met Eileen and devoted his all to her and her children providing them with unquestionable love, support, joy of music, laughter and happiness. He unselfishly cared for the children, encouraging Eileen to pursue the long, grueling training required to become a medical doctor. Through all the hardship, a bond was forged that was not to be broken, and through 35 years, they never left each other’s side. Their greatest joy is the love and relationship they have for each other and their family. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Barto M.D. of Sioux City, IA; son, Andy (Emily) Alexander and their children Eden, Noah and Levi of Iowa City, IA; daughter, Taurice (Justin) Lounsbury and their children Elena and Ethan of Sioux City, IA; brother, LeRoy Sailors of South Sioux City, NE; sister-in-law, Donna Sailors of Grand Island, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Belva (Jim) Ernest, and Gloria Bruggeman-Schultz (Ed Bruggeman and Willis Schultz), his brother, Donald Sailors, nephew Jimmy Ernest, and niece Kathy McDonald.
