- Duane is the son of Herman and Mildred (Cunningham) Leibbrandt.
He graduated from McCook High School in 1966 then attended Curtis Technical College for two years. Later on he would attend McCook Community College for several years.
On June 2-1972 he married Pamela Hays in Cambridge, NE. The couple made their home North West of McCook, where Duane farmed and ranched.
Duane was very involved with 4-H and Farm Bureau. He taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir at Peace Lutheran Church. He liked to play the piano and organ in his free time. Spending time on the computer was also a hobby of his. He enjoyed working with his cattle and his dogs were like family to him.
Duane could fix almost anything he put his hands on. Even though Pam and Duane could have no children of their own they became great foster parents to many children. Duane adored his loving wife, Pam and he told her he loved her everyday.

Many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He is preceded by his parents and his father in law George Hays.
