Neal Leslie Meints, Sr.

July 25, 1944 - Jan. 25, 2024

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Neal Leslie Meints, Sr. died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024.

Neal was born on July 25, 1944 to Lucille and Reinke Meints in McCook, Neb.

Neal worked and resided in McCook until moving to Sterling, Colo. in 1970. After leaving Sterling in 1991, he spent his time traveling together with his wife, Sharon. He lived in Nebraska, New Mexico, Idaho, Washington and Kansas where he has resided with his family for the past nine years.

In 1963, Neal married Sharon Riley and went on to have four children, Michele, Les, Marci and Eric.

Neal had a variety of jobs throughout his life including delivering freight, cook, bouncer, beef plant sanitation, Keno floor manager and a member service specialist for Sam’s.

Neal is preceded in death by his father Reinke Meints and his mother Lucille Meints Solko.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Meints, his daughter Michele Peck and husband Park; his son Les Meints and wife Jannelle; his daughter Marci Sibal and husband Lance; his son Eric Meints and wife Tammy; his brother Gene Meints and wife Karen; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several neices and nephews.

Memorial Service was held Friday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Manhattan, Kan.

A ceremony to celebrate his life and spread his ashes will follow at a time and date to be determined by his family.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Baptist Church, 2121 Blue Hills Road in Manhattan, KS 66502

Angels Above Cremation Services in Topeka, Kansas will handle the funeral arrangements.
