Marion Schuler (Lieske) - Class Of 1957

 

McCOOK, Neb. — Marian R. Lieske, age 81, of McCook, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Center in Grand Island, Neb. Marian was born Sept. 21, 1939, in Sioux City, Iowa, to parents, Delbert E. and Ruth V. (Woods) Schuler. The family later relocated to the McCook community, where Marian attended school, graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1957. On Sept. 23, 1994, Marian married Marvin Lieske in McCook, where the couple also made their home. Marian worked at the Dayco Hose plant for many years before retiring. She was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church as well as the McCook Eagles Auxiliary. In her free time, Marian enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling to visit family, going to different casinos across the states, playing golf and summer days spent at her cabin at Red Willow Lake. Marian loved spending time with her family and was especially fond of her cats. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Marvin Lieske in 2007. Those left to celebrate her life include her children, James (Blanche) Petsch of Kansas City, Mo., Dan (Kim) Petsch of Grand Island, Neb., Diane Petsch of Dallas, Texas, stepson, Ryan (Tricia) Lieske of Ravenna, Neb., and stepdaughter, Nicky (Dan) Smith of Lincoln, Neb.; sisters, Vivian Cotton of Parker, Colo., and Janet Bradley of McCook; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and lifelong friends. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook, with Pastor Lisa Mensinger officiating. Inurnment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, McCook. Memorial contributions are suggested to the McCook Humane Society, P.O. Box 13, McCook, NE 69001.
