Larry Hoyt - Class Of 1957

 

 

Larry Wayne Hoyt was born on April 22, 1939 in McCook, Nebraska to Marvin and Rouene (Modrell) Hoyt. He attended school in McCook, graduating from McCook High School with the class of 1957 and from McCook Community College with his associate degree. Larry served his country honorably in the United States Army Reserve. He was a proud veteran who truly enjoyed attending the Veteran’s Day program that St Patrick School each year. Larry was united in marriage to LeAnna Leibrandt on June 15, 1958. They made a home on the farm south of McCook and welcomed four daughters: Lynda, Lanae, Leila, and Leah. Larry wore many hats, but at the end of the day he was most proud to be a farmer. He was a certified wheat and swine dealer as well as a wholesale N-Touch jewelry owner. Larry also served as a Vernon sales representative and a Champion Oil Service provider. Larry married Patsy Ralls on May 21, 1999. Service was important to Larry. He sat on the Agricultural Board as well as the School Board. He coached many youth sports teams and was a founding member of the Bison Booster Club. Larry impacted countless young people as a 4-H leader and a member of FFA. He was also a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church. Larry’s one true passion was being a part of the lives of his daughters, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. He truly loved the time spent with his family. Larry loved fishing, hunting, gardening, dancing, and Husker football. He enjoyed traveling and was a regular at most of the local sporting events. Larry passed away at his home south of McCook on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. He was 84 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Rouene (Modrell) Hoyt; his grandparents, Glen and Hattie Modrell and James and Nettie Hoyt; a brother, Leon Hoyt; and sons-in-law, Darin Koetter and David Rowe. Larry will live on through the lives of his daughters: Lynda (Justin) Woodward of Charlotte, North Carolina, Lanae (Bob) Fritsch of McCook, Leila Koetter of McCook, and Leah (Delbert) Morse of Amherst, Nebraska; his ten grandchildren: Jesse (Stacy) Wilcox, Drew (Tausha) Wilson, Austin (Ryan) Martin, Jessica (Josh Herian) Fritsch, Sarah (Tom Sughroue) Fritsch, Michaela (Matt) Nothnagel, Logan (Jessica Morgan) Koetter, Dalton (Brenda Aguirre) Koetter, Levi Rowe, and Noah (Lerrin) Rowe; 22 great-grandkids: Hailey, Hayden, and Hunter Wilcox, Asher, Abel, Annabelle, Aiden, Aaron, and Adley Wilson, Peri, Charli, Letti, and Andi Martin, Makenna Herian, Henry, Liam, and Montana Nothnagel, Kason and Kooper Koetter, and Beckett, Styla, and Rexton Rowe; as well as a brother, Leigh (Marilyn) Hoyt; his extended family and countless friends. Visitation will take place on Sunday afternoon, October 15, 2023 from 3-5PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Funeral Services will be held at 1PM on Monday afternoon, October 16, 2023 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Military Honors will be provided by the Nebraska Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team. Immediately following the service, the family invites friends to a reception at the Heritage Senior Center in McCook to share in a time of fellowship and continue to celebrate the life of Larry Hoyt. Cremation will follow services and a private family inurnment will take place at later date.
