Ronald Crowe - Class Of 1956

Ronald LeRoy Crowe was born on January 30, 1938 to Crosby Jr and Anna (Blecha) Crowe in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He grew up and attended school in McCook, graduating with the McCook High School Class of 1956. Ron enlisted in the United States Army shortly after graduation. He was stationed in Germany for a year and in 1959 was honorably discharged. Ron married Sharon Hollars on June 5, 1960 in McCook. They were lifelong residents of McCook where they raised their son, Kerry. Ron was employed at the McCook Daily Gazette from 1960-1988. He served as the advertising manager, general manager, and assistant publisher. He later went on to own and operate KICX and KBRL radio stations as well as RC Specialties on Norris Avenue in McCook. Ron was a member of the McCook Elks Club and was a past commander of St. John’s Commandery #16. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He and Sharon kept an immaculate yard and flower gardens. Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren and was so happy to meet his great-grandson, Graesen the day before he passed. Ron passed away Sunday afternoon, December 4, 2022 at the Hillcrest Care Center in McCook. He was 84 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sharon. He is survived by his son Kerry Crowe of McCook; grandchildren: McKenzie (Bryce) Bivins of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Madison Crowe and Jonathan Dykstal of Garden City, Kansas, and Crosby and Cooper Crowe of Aurora, Nebraska; great-grandson, Graesen Bivins of Gothenburg; step-grandchildren: Baily (Ethan) Mayberry, Beau, Chloe, and Clare Craig; and brother-in-law, Mark (Sharon) Hollars of Fort Worth, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 2PM, Sunday afternoon, December 11, 2022 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Mike Roth officiating. Military honors will be provided at the Funeral Home. A private family inurnment will take place in Riverview Cemetery, McCook at a later date. Memorials suggested to Community HealthCare and Hospice of McCook in Ron's name.
