Alta Shepherd (Rydquist) - Class Of 1952

Alta J Rydquist was born April 29, 1934 at McCook, Nebraska to Alfred (Jack) and Ruth Shepherd. She entered eternal life on March 11, 2022 at home, surrounded by family and loved ones following a brief illness. She graduated from McCook High School in McCook, Nebraska in 1952. She married Gordon Rydquist June 20, 1954. They were blessed with the arrival of Gina in 1964 and Steve in 1967. Gordon and Alta moved to Wray in 1958. Alta was an operator for Mountain Bell before starting with Safeway. She worked many years in the grocery business including a long history at Wray Super Foods. Alta enjoyed spending time outside taking care of her flower gardens. Her true joy was spending time with her kids, including her own, her grandchildren and her “adopted” grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Gordon, her father, Alfred “Jack” Shepherd, her mother, Ruth, brothers, Harry & Lyle, sisters, Bonnie, Wanda and Ruthie and in-laws, Evald and Signe Rydquist. She is survived by her daughter, Gina & husband, Louie Fabrizius, son, Steve and wife, Janice; grandchildren, Aftyn Loos, Dakota Fabrizius, Shantelle Gibbs and Madison Uhlich, great-grandchildren, Kaden & Jaxon Loos, Eli, Gavin and Jolyn Gibbs. She is also survived by her “adopted” kids and grandkids, Spencer & Jamie Johnson with Madison and Logan and Colby & Shausta Wilson with Lux and Coen. Memorial Services for Alta were held Saturday, March 26, 2022, 2 p.m. at the Wray United Methodist Church with Pastor Ben Wentworth officiating. Interment was in the Grandview Cemetery in Wray. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wray Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home – 427 Adams St, Wray, Colorado 80758. Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
