Glenadine Bell (Kessel) - Class Of 1950

Glenadine May Kessel Fort Collins - Glenadine May Kessel, 88, died on February 21, 2021 in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was the widow of John Kessel. They shared 57 years of marriage before Johnny's death in 2011. They enjoyed a life abroad due to John's teaching job with Department of Defense Dependent Schools. They lived in Guam, Japan twice, Germany twice, and the Azores. Born in 1932 and raised in McCook, Nebraska, Gleni was the daughter of Glen and Anna Bell of Ravenswood Dairy fame in McCook. She graduated from McCook Community College, then from University of Nebraska, where she met the love of her life. Gleni was a stay-at-home Mom after her children were born. She was known for her kindness, love of friends, and being positive and fun-loving. Gleni was creative and artistic in many ways: as a cake decorating instructor for 40+ years, she was always putting her talents to learning a new skill. Through the years she took classes in stamping, millinery, ikebana, Chinese cooking, beaded jewelry, washi making, crochet, knitting, quilting, etc. After they retired to Fort Collins, Gleni worked at Swenson's making ice cream cakes, Toddy's bakery, Michael's, and then Stamp World. Her beautiful greeting cards were cherished by the recipients. Gleni was a role model and mentor to many of her students. She was extensively involved in Protestant Women of the Chapel and Officer's Wives' Club in both Japan and Germany. She is survived by her children, Mari Oxentenko of Arizona, and Nora Alvarado, Kurt (Anne) Kessel and Carl Kessel of Colorado, grandchildren, Alys (Tony) Patton and Nick Oxentenko of Arizona, and Sean (Caitlin) Kessel of Colorado, and great grandchildren, Harper, Harrison, and Ethan, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, her brother Robert Bell of Torrington, WY and sister Gladys Johnson of Greeley, Colorado. She leaves behind many friends in Fort Collins that were part of her stamping clubs, bunco, and playing card circles. Due to the coronavirus, a celebration of life will be scheduled in the summer.
