Kenneth Frick - Class Of 1947

Kenneth Robert Frick of McCook passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Ken was 91 years old. Ken was born on April 9, 1928 at Culbertson to parents Jacob and Mary Catherine (Fuss) Frick. He graduated from McCook High School in 1947. He continued his education at McCook Junior College graduating in 1949 with a Business Administration Degree. Ken served a two-year term with the US Army and reenlisted in the Air Force on May 26, 1958. He proudly served his country during the Viet Nam War. After serving 26 years, Ken was honorably discharged on August 31, 1974. On June 9, 1957 he was united in marriage to Norma June Kubicka at Cambridge. To this union a daughter, Robin, was born. Norma preceded him in death in 1999. He later married Lorene “Lori” Johnson at Ovid, CO on July 19, 2003. She preceded him in death in 2007. Ken worked in maintenance at McCook Community College until his retirement. Ken was a life-time member of American Legion Chris Hansen Post 203 and Bernard Elbert Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1652. He loved working with leather, listening and collecting Big Band music, and was an avid Husker Fan. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and most recently his great-grandson. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jacob and Mary Frick; his two wives, Norma Frick and Lorene Frick; two sisters, Helen Waterman and Pauline Boss; and three brothers, Willard, Clarence, and Harold Frick. Survivors include his daughter, Robin and husband, Jerry Calvin, of McCook; three grandchildren, Michelle and husband, Christopher Truth, of Sturgis, SD, Sarah Calvin of North Platte, and Brian Calvin of Alliance; great-grandson, Jesse Owen Truth; step-children, David Johnson of Bellevue, Idaho, Jolene and husband, Brad Green, of Fruita, Colorado, Suzy and husband, Jeff Schott, of Eaton, CO, and Deryl Johnson and wife, Tish, of Julesburg, CO; numerous step-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Tom Kubicka and wife, Connie, of Hastings; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Memorials may be given in his name to American Legion Chris Hansen Post 203, PO Box 57, McCook, NE 69001. Visitation will be Friday, September 13, 2019, at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel, McCook, NE from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. to greet friends. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 14, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Lonnie Felcher officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook entrusted with arrangements.
