Marion Weiland (Keith) - Class Of 1946

Marion E. Keith, 93, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Azria Centennial Park in North Platte. Marion was born on January 20, 1929 in McCook, Nebraska the daughter of Francis N. and Marion I. (Kling) Weiland. She grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook high school and junior college. She married Elmer Lee “Hank” Keith in 1951 in McCook and soon after the family moved to North Platte. Together they had five children, sons, Mike, Allen, Larry, and Doug, and a daughter, Kathy. She worked for a short time at McDonald State Bank in the early 1950’s but spent most of her career with the North Platte Telegraph as a bookkeeper having retired with over 30 years of service. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and participated in several card playing groups. She also enjoyed participating in sewing and quilting groups, as well as crafts and gardening. She was a communicant of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in North Platte. She was a member and enjoyed volunteering with the Eagles, American Legion Auxiliary, Lincoln County Extension, and the RSVP group. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Hank on February 14, 1982; sons, Mike, Allen, and Larry Keith; daughter, Kathy Shimmin; brothers, Francis and Joe Weiland. Left to celebrate her memory are her son, Doug (Sharon) Keith of Brady; daughter-in-law, Mary Keith of Omaha; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Kadaprayil as celebrant. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell.
