Harriet Teter (Greening) - Class Of 1944

Harriet Greening June 19, 1926 — November 26, 2021 Harriet Fearn (Teter) Greening was born on a farm near Bartley, Nebraska on June 19, 1926 to Ora Floyd Teter and Hannah Fearn Burton. She was the third of nine children. Harriet went to school in Bartley and McCook. She went on to attend McCook Junior College and got her teaching certificate. Harriet worked by her mother's side helping on the farm and helping with her younger brothers and sisters. She spend time after school at her Grandmother Burton's home while her older brother's played on the football team. She developed her love of quilting from her time with her. Harriet was teaching elementary school in Cambridge when she met Kenneth Greening. They were married June 1, 1947 and thus began their 70 year marriage. Kenneth and Harriet had seven children: Paul (Vicky), Howard, Connie Patton, Kaye Doane, Ronald, Marianne LaRocca (Steve), and Randy (Karen). Together they have 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Harriet has had many different interests over the years. She sold Tupperware, belonged to the Thornton Women's Club, led a 4-H group, a girl scout troop, a boy scout troup, was active in a VFW Post and served as president, was PTA president, was a member and leader of a TOPS chapter, taught quilting classes and quilted numerous quilts for friends and family, and was a founding member of the Yesteryear Singers. Harriet loved to travel. Harriet and Kenneth traveled in their fifth-wheel trailer after he retired. They enjoyed visiting family and friends. Harriet is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; daughter, Kaye; son, Ronald; daughter-in-law, Sandy; her parents and four brothers.
