Vera Ackerman (Eaton) - Class Of 1943

ARVADA, Colo. - Vera Arlina Eaton (Ackermann), went to sleep in Jehovaha’s arms on July 5, 2023, joining her husband Francis “Mel” Eaton in Everlasting Life. Vera was born in McCook, Neb. on Nov. 21, 1925 to Jacob and Lydia Ackermann. She attended two years of Junior College and then WWII broke out, and she went to work at the Air Base in Red Willow County. On Nov. 20, 1955, she married Francis (Mel) Eaton in McCook, Neb. Vera worked at the Bureau of Reclamation in McCook and then transferred to Denver, Colo. She retired from her career with the Bureau of Land Management in 1981. She excelled at gardening and oil painting, gifting most of her paintings to her family. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada, Colo. She left her family with the knowledge of what sacrifice meant, passed on her values of God, family, and love to her children and grandchildren. Left to mourn are her children: daughter, Debra (Rod Hynes), son John (Twyla), son Robin (Maggie), daughter-in-law Rickee; her grandchildren Brad, Chisholm, Amanda, Eli, Savannah, Derek, Luke, and Sage; and her great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Kevin, her grandson Brandon, her brother Harvey, and her sister Bernice. A private memorial service will be held on Aug. 18th in Arvada, Colo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Vera’s name to Peace Lutheran Church, 5675 Field Street, Arvada, Colo. 80002.
