Marion Macy (Mosher) - Class Of 1943

Although she used both Frances and Marian throughout her life, most family and friends will remember her as Marian. Marian was born December 24th, 1924, in McCook, Nebraska to Elza Carl Macy and Bessie Bell (Austin) Macy. Marian was the last of four sisters Ella Ruth, Cleo Mae, Virginia Lee, and Frances Marian. Her mother and father worked at various farming jobs and other occupations in Haigler, NE Marian finished high school and soon after married the love of her life, Milan Mosher. They were married Aug 16th, 1942. Milan was soon drafted into the U S Army and Marian followed him to California to be closer during his training. Their first son, Malvin Dewane was born in San Luis Obispo, CA. Marian returned to McCook, where Gilbert Carl was born. She told the story of bringing 'Carl' home from the hospital the afternoon that sirens went off marking the beginning of the Great Invasion of Europe and knowing Milan was there. Scot Eric came along ten years later. Marian and her sisters spent the duration of WWII in McCook raising 8 small children and worked at McCook Air Base. At wars end, Milan returned to McCook and went to work for Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas Company. Marian and he enjoyed frequent fishing excursions and camping trips. After ten years in McCook, the family moved to Gering, Nebraska, and then to a farm several years later. Marian and Milan always enjoyed auto vacations and especially historical trips. They took special interest during their farming years in the proper care and raising of their sheep and cattle. Marian was an enthusiastic bridge player, and accomplished quilter. She loved gardening as well. She was a long-standing member of the Methodist Women's Organization, as well as the Scotts Bluff County Extension club, one of her favorite activities, which included many hours of hard volunteer work at the Scotts Bluff County Fair each year. Marian is survived by Gilbert Carl Mosher (Patricia), Scot Eric Mosher (Lee), Ten grandchildren, Sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Milan, son Malvin Dewane (Dee), and grandson Patrick Scot.
