Val Jeanne Richman (Welborn) - Class Of 1942

Jeanne Welborn, 67, McCook, died Saturday, December 5, 1992 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She was born February 17, 1925 in Huntley to James L. and Lola (Merryman) Richman.

In 1931 at the age of six, she came with her parents to McCook. She was a 1942 graduate of McCook High School and attended McCook Junior College.

On February 14, 1958 she married James G. Welborn in McCook.

She was employed as a secretary for Ralph Brooks and Frank Morrison before becoming secretary to Harry Strunk at the McCook Daily Gazette. She was also a feature writer and was responsible for the church and school section of the Centennial publication in 1982.

She was vice president and a member of Meals on Wheels for 13 years. She was also a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook, where she held several offices. At the time of her death she was president of the Ostomy Club.

Preceding her in death was her father, April 2, 1985.

Survivors include her husband and mother of McCook; two sons, Larry Welborn and wife, Janell; and James Welborn and wife, Lynn, all of Omaha; one daughter, Donna and husband, Roger Sample of Colby, Kansas; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Douglas A. Delp officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
