LOS ALAMOS, N.M. - Joe Segar, 85, a resident of Los Alamos, N.M., since 1959, died on June 6, 2007.

He is survived by his three children, Linda Patterson of Albuquerque, N.M., and Larry Segar and Nancy Barnes, both of Los Alamos; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lowell Seger and wife, Mary Ellen of King City, Ore., and Rev. David L. Segar and wife, Nancy of Rapid City, S.D.; other relatives and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Frances Segar in Oc ober 2006, and his parents.

He was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Blairsburg, Iowa to Joe Segar and Zella Seger Davis and graduated from high school in Webster City, Iowa. After graduation he served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After his honorable discharge he attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa where he graduated.

Joe then taught and coached in Iowa and Nebraska before moving to New Mexico. He taught in Los Alamos until his retirement in 1983.

Joe was an avid golfer and continued playing until his death. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Services will be Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church in Los Alamos. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
