Ruth Tourtellotte (Callan) - Class Of 1936

Ruth Ellen Callan, age 90, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Hillcrest Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 9, 1917, in Mullen, to Harold and Susie (O'Brien) Tourtellotte. She grew up and lived in McCook. She attended grade school and graduated from McCook High School in 1936.

In 1937, she married Stanley Dale Callan. She was employed with the NorthWestern Bell telephone company in 1943, as an operator supervisor. In 1968, she was promoted to traffic manager and continued to work for NorthWestern Bell for 30 years.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in McCook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Susie; two brothers, Earl Tourtellotte, Cliff Tourtellotte; two infant sisters, Barbara Jean Tourtellotte and Margaret Suzanne Toutellotte; and her youngest son, David Callan in 1990.

She is survived by a son, Ron Callan and wife, Gayle of Columbus; daughter, Marilynn Jezek of McCook; two daughters-in-law, Diane Clark of McCook and Karen Callan of Julesburg, Co.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; several nieces; and one nephew.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in her name.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m., at the First Assembly of God with Pastor Eddie Wright officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Inurnment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be today and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. -- 8 p.m. Friends may sign her book at the funeral home or send condolences online at www.carpenterbreland.com

Derick Callan (Callan) (1992)

Gram Callan, you are so dearly missed. You helped shape all your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren!
On top of that, your were a bright light to all your friends and family!

Your in a heaven now smiling down on the people you loved for so many years.

We love you and miss you!
