Jack Kailey - Class Of 1934

Obituary: "Jack L. Kailey, 84, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002, of natural causes. He left this earth to be with his wife, Kay, who passed away only three weeks prior. Jack and Kay were married on Sept. 14, 1940.

Jack was born on March 14, 1917 in McCook, Neb., the second son of Clifford and Margaret Kailey. He attended the University of Nebraska and obtained his medical training at the University of Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and fought during the Battle of the Bulge. Following the war, Jack managed the Military’s Clinical Laboratory in Nuremberg, Germany.

Jack and his family returned to the United States in 1955; Jack moved his family to Salem, and began his duties as Chief Medical Technologist for the Salem Hospital. He retired in 1985 but could not stay away from his friends and could be seen having coffee as if he were still working. Jack enjoyed golf, and even with his A game, he could not break 80. He loved to go fishing, loved gardening, and was well known as a big Nebraska Cornhusker football fan. Dad once played basketball against the Harlem Globetrotters and was a drummer for the Miles Davis band.

Jack is survived by his three sons, Dennis of Pasadena, Calif., Jack Jr. of Aumsville, and Patrick of Salem; and two grandsons, Michael and Curtis, both of Salem.

You are now back with your love of 62 years.
Remember, on the eighth day, God created the Cornhuskers."
