Norval Gragg - Class Of 1934

BOONE, Iowa -- Norval M. Gragg, 83, of Boone, Iowa, died Nov. 10, 2000, at Boone County Hospital in Boone. He was born Aug. 3, 1917, at Mullen to Jesse and Stella (O'Brien) Gragg. He graduated from McCook High School and McCook Community College. On July 16, 1938, he married Lucelia M. Welborn at Benkelman. He worked as a bookkeeper for the Tri County Reclamation in Minden before returning to McCook where he was a parts manager for Hormel Chevrolet for 16 years. He moved to Boone in 1955 where he started Randy's Frozen Meats. He wrote articles for the Boone News Republican and the McCook Daily Gazette. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Boone, the Boone Rotary Club, past president of the Boone Chamber of Commerce, the Boone Golf and Country Club, a 55-year member of the McCook Masonic Lodge 135 A.F. and A.M. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1998; and two brothers. Survivors include three sons, Ray Gragg and wife, Joyce of Boone, Neal Gragg and wife, Jan of Fairbault, Minn., and Kent Gragg and wife, Linda of Waterloo, Iowa; two sisters, Nadine Cross and Dora Carlson, both of Boone; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside inurnment services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Lebanon Cemetery at Lebanon with the Rev. Rod Church officiating . Herrmann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
