She was born on August 11, 1933, in Holdrege, to Ernest J. and Pearl E (Glandon) Almquist. She graduated from McCook High School in 1951. On October 26, 1952, she married Larry M. McCarty in Omaha. They made their home in McCook where she was a homemaker and worked in the family businesses. She was a member of Evangelical Free Church and P.E.O. Chapter GY. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest; and sister, Karen Alexandre. Survivors include her husband, Larry McCarty of McCook; one daughter, Kimbra Miller of North Platte; three sons, Christopher McCarty and wife, Leeann, David McCarty and wife, Angela, and Todd McCarty all of McCook; her mother, Pearl Almquist of McCook; two brothers, Jim Almquist and wife, Marie, of Denver, CO, and Jon Almquist and wife Kathy of Sierra Vista, AZ; 11 grandchildren, Kyle, Kurt and Kristen Miller, Tyler and Jenni McCarty, and Andrew, Amanda, Nathan, Matthew, Laura, and Joseph McCarty. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is today until 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Sunday from 1 - 9 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Memorials are being accepted in her name and will be designated to an Educational Scholarship Fund. Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
