Norman Unger - Class Of 1951

Norman W. Unger Thursday, May 26, 2005 (Dec. 12, 1932 - May 24, 2005) Norman W. Unger, 72, died Tuesday (May 24, 2005), at the Sunset Villa Care Center in Omaha. He was born Dec. 12, 1932, in McCook, to Elmer and Elva (Dinnill) Unger. He grew up in McCook and attended McCook High School. On March 24, 1953, he entered the U. S. Army where he received his high school diploma and served in the Korean Conflict. On Aug. 9, 1953, he married Barbara Ann Troxell in McCook. Following his honorable discharge from the military on Jan. 24, 1955, they returned to McCook where he spent his life as a commercial painter for Otto Weigel Painting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, on July 6, 2001. Survivors include one daughter, Cathy Unger of Chappel; three sons, Douglas Unger and wife, Mary of Lincoln, Randy Unger and wife, Wendy of Des Moines, Iowa, and Rick Unger and wife, Linda of Glenwood, Iowa; two brothers, Donald Unger, and wife, Sue of Oakland, Calif., and Jerry Unger and wife, Mary of Milwaukee, Wis.; one sister, Carla Harvey of Sheridan, Wyo.; stepfather, Herman H. Pritchett and wife Vlasta of McCook; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside Inurnment will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell.
