Fay E. Nelson (Fitzgibbons) - Class Of 1928

Fay E. Fitzgibbons Tuesday, November 19, 2002 Fay E. Fitzgibbons, 92, died Sunday (Nov. 17, 2002) at her residence at Willow Ridge in McCook. She was born Aug. 7, 1910, to Charles and Minnie (Hubler) Nelson in Red Willow County. She grew up on a farm northwest of McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1928. She graduated from Concordia College at Concordia, Kan., and began working as an accountant at the McCook Co-op. On April 4, 1940, she married John Fitzgibbons at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Frontier County. They moved to North Platte where her husband was an engineer for Union Pacific. She returned to McCook in 1995, and has resided at Willow Ridge since March 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, John. Survivors include one son, Michael Fitzgibbons of Auburn, Wash.; two sisters, Helen Schlegel of McCook and Arlene Yost of Boise, Idaho and two grandsons. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Interment will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte. The rosary will be recited today at 6:30 p.m., at Herrmann Funeral Home.
