BIRD CITY -- Ed H. Thomas, 46, of Bird City died on October 14, 1992 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver.

He was born on May 20, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas to Edgar H. and Selma (Pingetzer) Thomas. He graduated from McCook High School in 1965 and attended McCook Junior College.

He served with the Navy in Vietnam, then moved to Minnesota and worked for Triangle Refineries. He later lived in St. Louis and Kansas City before starting his own oil business in Houston.

He owned a refinery in Jennings, Louisiana and worked in the oil business around McCook for several years before beginning Big Ed's Restaurant in Bird City.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley.

He is survived by his mother of McCook; son, Tom of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter, Shelli of St. Cloud, Minnesota; and two sisters, Jeannie Knox of Loveland, Colorado and Laura Walden and husband, Eldon of Bird City.

Services were to be at 1 p.m. today at the Bird City American Legn Hall with committal at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the Memorial park Cemetery in McCook.
