Marvin ‘Shorty’ L. Gerard

 Ashland—Marvin “Shorty” L. Gerard, 55, died Wednesday (Sept. 11,2002) at his home in Ashland.
 
He was born Dec. 14, 1946, to Charles Marvin and Edna Mae (Nelson) Gerard in McCook. He attended McCook Schools and he graduated in 1964. After graduation, the family moved to Loveland, Colo. to farm.
 
He was married to Nancy Minch. He spent most of his life driving truck. He was a member of the Methodist church.
 
Shorty was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother Bill Gerard.
 
Survivors include his son, Marvin L. Mains, of Miami, Okla.; two daughters, Carri and husband, Doug Dykes of Brush, Colo., and Catiena (Katie) and husband, Shawn Pruitt of Arapahoe; one brother Jim Gerard of McCook; one sister, Karla and husband, Robert Istas of Columbia, MO; sister-in-law, Patricia Gerard of McCook; and eight grandchildren.
 
Funeral services were at the Carpenter Breland Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Stan Hendershot officiating.
 
Memorials may be given in his name.
