KEY LARGO, Florida -- Harry A. Strunk, 56, of Key Largo and formerly of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away May 27, 2014.

Harry was born on Dec. 18, 1957, to Allen D. and Norma Rose (Bobinmyer) Strunk in McCook. He graduated from McCook Senior High in 1976 and received his journalism degree from the University of Nebraska in 1980.

Harry married Patty Balius May 31, 1980.

In 1984, Harry was named co-publisher of the McCook Daily Gazette with his brother, Grant and father, Allen D. Strunk.

After the Strunk family sold the Gazette in 1987, Harry and Patty returned to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He worked in the financial business for several years until opening his money managing company, Aspen Grove Capital Management, LLC.

Harry enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, scuba diving and fishing in the Bahamas, remote-controlled airplanes and racing remote-controlled sailboats, motorcycling, climbing 14,000-foot mountains, tennis and was a licensed pilot and U.S. Coast Guard certified boat captain.

Harry is survived by his wife, Patty of Key Largo; sons, Todger of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and Tanner of New York City, New York; father, Allen and wife, Linda of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Grant, of McCook; sister, Julie of Denver, Colorado; father and mother-in-law, Gene and Marieta Balius of McCook; brother-in-law, Terry and wife, Chari Balius of North Platte; sister-in-law, Ann and husband, Steve Barger of McCook; nieces, Deanna and Sheldon Martin, Stephanie and Casey Roth and Chelsie Barger, all of McCook, Kristen and Lance Mohr of Sioux City, Iowa, Kayla Holst of Palm Beach Gardens and Courtney Holst of San Francisco, California; nephews, Jeff and Roxi Holst of Jupiter, Florida, and Shane Barger of McCook; and step-brother, Greg Allmond and wife, Joy of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Preceding him in death was his mother, Norma Rose Strunk and step-brother, Steve Allmond of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
