John William Shepherd

TRENTON, Neb. -- John William Shepherd, age 57, of Trenton died at his home June 23, 2014.

He was born in Cripple Creek, Colorado, on Sept. 8, 1956, to Guy and Helen (Wallace)Shepherd. John attended and graduated from McCook High School in 1975.

John was united in marriage to Glenda Hawkinson on Feb. 24, 1978, in Stratton, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Kansas, where John was a licensed plumber. John had worked for McClure Plumbing, Red Elliot and at the Timber Creek Homes in Stratton.

John enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking and stained glass. He also played pool in several leagues and was an APA pool player. He was a pet lover and will be missed by his two dogs, Rascal and Poco John. He adored his grandchildren.

John is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Claudine Baker, Shirley Courcier, Dorothy Peters and Rose Ann Shepherd; brother, Vernon; in-laws, Loren and Wilma Hawkinson; brothers-in-law, Donald Chambers, Raymond Chancellor and Harry Peters.

John is survived by his wife, Glenda of Trenton; two daughters, Sarah and husband, Randy Miner of Stratton, Lauren and husband, Troy McDaniel of Haigler; three grandchildren, Lillian, Hunter and Graven Miner; three sisters, Geraldine Chambers of Denver, Colorado, Helen Chancellor of Bruning and Jessie and husband, Gerald Manley of McCook, Nebraska; two brothers, Robert Wallace of McCook and Ronald Wallace of Douglas, Nebraska; uncle, Richard Wallace of Lyons, Colorado and aunt, Carolyn Wallace of Omaha.

Memorial services will be on 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
